Attention NJ, NY, and PA opponauts! I'm sticking with Sunday, November 17. Time: 12:30PM First part will be a cruise at the Hawks Nest in Port Jervis, NY. From there we will take a short drive back down to High Point State Park. This park seems to be better suited for having the bbq. park link: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Kinja'd!!!

I just tried calling the park to confirm a few things but no one was answering... so i will try again later. But the park closes at 4:30PM. So we should definitely try to keep to an afternoon start in order to maximize the day for everyone. However, we could leave the park and go back for a cruise afterwards if anyone showed up late and misses the first cruise. Keeping options open. Maybe cruise to get ice cream? haha whatever you guys want.

Also, the park doesnt allow alcohol, so leave your keggers at home. Also, it would be frowned upon as we are driving anyways.

Again, the park change is no big deal. Its only just a few more minutes drive from the Hawks Nest.

the list so far...

the list does not include extra people anyone may bring along. Since a few of you said you might bring a few other people. Please do! More is good!

If you are bringing more people, let me know as i will need to start getting an estimate to how many burgers and hot dogs ill need to buy...

And it would be awesome if everyone could bring maybe 1 item (soda, water, plates, chips, napkins, etc, anything else youd want to have). That way we will have enough food. Ill also cook whatever you bring. (but obviosly im limited to cooking on a grill.. so dont go crazy and bring live lobster)

Comment? Questions? Concerns? Input is appreciated.

I'll share this with my panther brethren and see if I can get a few more people to come along. I can always find a kid with a CVPI and stick him up front to clear out traffic if we have to!

Well, ill get the hotdogs, burgers, buns, charcoal and trash bags.

Anything else is fair game at this point. soda, chips, plates, napkins. etc, and anything else you want me to cook up.

Ill let you guys figure out how to get a jalop staff member to our meet. Thats your guys's job. haha.

that is like a 20 hour trip! I drove to Missouri once, it was a 9 hour drive. It sucked nuts. Then again I was driving my mom, dad, and my sisters. So I couldn't listen to my podcasts and stuff.

I'm most certainly interested, though I'm still figuring out my weekend plans for the month. I'm secretly planning a trip down to AC with the lady if I can get a room. In the event that I'm home, I'd love to meet up at High Point. Given my sleep schedule, I wouldn't be up early enough to hit Hawks Nest, but High Point isn't far from me.

Not sure if it's too far, but very close off Rt 80 in Roxbury NJ is a Cliff's Ice Cream. Big parking lot, usually very friendly. The downside is the parking lot is typically full. Even in this colder weather, the line is well into the parking lot. Off Rt 206 in Augusta NJ is the Chatterbox. A hugely popular cruise night location. Their official cruise nights are done for the year, but I know the owner very well, and if you wanted to flood the place with cars, I could definitely ask Don for you, I need an excuse to go out that far anyway. The Chatterbox has great food as well. If you want more info, let me know.

Drop by whenever you can make it.

Hp state park is probably 50 mins from rt80. If you go rt15 to 80. So its kinda far...

Chatterbox! haha i am literally 2 minutes from that place, im always there. I know a ton of people who work there. But honestly, they are a bit more expensive and for the cost, we could go to the DQ in sussex. which is pretty close to HP state park. idk if theyve closed for winter tho...

The reason why i didnt choose chatterbox for the meet spot was because it would involve a little more cost for everyone. Id rather keep it free for the most part to attract everyone who wants to show up. Imagine the tip we'd have to leave if 20 of us racked up a 300+ bill....

Missouri is 20 hours. Actually, 19 and some change, i counted.

12 is for indiana. or maybe 15... either way i love driving long distance. Though, more recently, trips lasting longer than 5 hours in my prelude start to become a little uncomfy... Hows long distance in the 86?

It isn't too bad. Then again the longest I have traveled in it was 2 hours. Though, I think the ride is down to the fact the car is new. Once the bushings start to wear, then we will see how it is.

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > YSI-what can brown do for you
11/09/2013 at 21:01

Kinja'd!!!0

Hows engine noise. That 6th gear probably helps alot. My eardrums keep my speed down cause if im speeding, im pushing 4.5K rpm. haha.

Bushings should be broken in by now eh? Unless you dont drive the car at all, youve nearly had it all summer right? Or more?

Kinja'd!!! YSI-what can brown do for you > MountainCommand
11/09/2013 at 21:32

Kinja'd!!!0

At about 80mph, the engine is at about 3500 rpms. Not too bad I guess. Some base European and Japanese models came with different final drives. The Americans got 4.1s for everything, while our over seas brothers got 3.7.

I have 10K miles on the car, and the ride seems about the same as new. I don't mind it at all. Seems a bit soft sometimes, especially when autocrossing.

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > YSI-what can brown do for you
11/09/2013 at 21:37

Kinja'd!!!0

Dang, that not too shabby actually.

10K is pretty good. And you know, id prefer to have it be a bit softer in a stock setup. I personally, wont end up going with polyurethane bushings when i do my replacements. But it just depends how often you drive the car to its limits.

Kinja'd!!! YSI-what can brown do for you > MountainCommand
11/09/2013 at 21:44

Kinja'd!!!0

When racing is going on, I autocross twice a month and once I get things that won't cause my brakes to be useless after 20 minutes of hard driving, I will start to take the car to a track. So I don't want something to beat me up, but something a bit stiffer(when I want it to be) would be perfect.

If you don't autocross(which I recommend, it is fun, cheap, and a great way to learn about racing), then don't worry about a stiffer set up.

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > YSI-what can brown do for you
11/09/2013 at 21:49

Kinja'd!!!0

i want to autocross, or track race! But its all soooo far.... =( id autox if i could. no doubt.

2+ hours to any track/event.... So i dont have that much of an urge to go and push my car beyond its limits, and possibly break something, and have to drive it home broken... That scares me the most.

Kinja'd!!! YSI-what can brown do for you > MountainCommand
11/09/2013 at 21:58

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah, taking the car to the track is risky business. Although, if you changed the fluids and oils, you should be fine. Autocross on the other hand is pretty easy on the car, it is basically like driving on the highway. If something breaks at autocross, it was already broken before you got there. It also depends on how long you are willing to drive to get to an event. If it is a big deal, then I can drive up to 2 hours. For smaller things, not so much.
